Thirsty Thursday- LINKUP !!!

My Drink for this week is the "Almond Kiss"

Ingredients:
Hot chocolate
Coconut Rum (THIS IS MY FAVORITE!)

Jacob, my hub, is out of town this week. (Sadness). So in lue of that and the upcoming cold weather, I'm making a warm (sorta stiff) drink to calm my nerves about him being on the road.

This drink was YUMMMMMMMY! It tasted like an Almond Joy, and boy do I love Almond Joys!

Now, I know that this is a new linkup so there may not be anyone that links up, but if you do; here are the rules:
- Make a drink you've never tried before. Or maybe it's your favorite... I don't care! It can be non/alcoholic.
- Include one picture in your post of the drink you made or you drinking the drink.
- list the name and ingredients of the drink.
- Finally, tell us if you would recommend it.

Thirsty Thursday is back with a vengeance!

So you may not even know what my version of Thirsty Thursday is, but in case you were wondering, I will tell you!
Thirsty Thursday became a "thing" around our house. Random friends would invite themselves over for this event.

But I'm changing this up a bit.
It used to be that I would just make a drink I've never tried before, invite some people to try it, we'd rank it, and I would post it.

But now....
IT'S GOING TO BE A WEEKLY LINKUP!
That's right! Now you can link up your favorite drink or a drink you've never tried, right here on Thursdays.

The rules are simple:

- Make a drink you've never tried before. Or maybe it's your favorite... I don't care! It can be non/alcoholic.
- Include one picture in your post of the drink you made or you drinking the drink.
- list the name and ingredients of the drink.
- Finally, tell us if you would recommend it.

So be here tomorrow or until Sunday (11/06) to link up. I'm so so so excited to see what you will make (or if anyone will linkup).

So make me proud! :) Oh, and you will not believe what I made for tomorrow!!

Sincerely,
Kylee

Thirsty Thursday!-Week 5-Alamo Splash

Welcome to Thirsty Thursday! This week was the "Alamo Splash".

  • 1.5 oz. Tequila
  • 1.5 oz Pineapple Juice
  • 1 oz Orange Juice
  • A dash of Sprite or lemon-lime soda

Okay here's what I learned about the ingredients:
 1) Only get 100% de agave tequila, the other stuff is not as good. (It's mixed with food coloring and everclear type stuff). This information was given to me by the super helpful lady at the liquor store.
2) I really like tequila! I just had to say it.

Okay so the rating scale is on five different categories and a couple of open-ended questions. The categories are judged on a scale from 1-5. 1=terrible 2=bad 3=okay 4=good 5=awesome.

We have some new judges! Everyone, meet Brandon and Kaitlin. They are our "married couple friends" even though we knew them before they were married. :)

The average overall score: 3.65

  • Her overall score: 4.2
  • Quote: "Isaiight..."
  • Recommend? And to what celebrity?: Yes, to a Desperate Housewife. Probably like Bethany Willace

  • His overall score: 3.4
  • Quote: "It's a good drink but then again I really like pineapple juice. If I could describe it in one word it would be 'easy'."
  • Recommend? And to what celebrity?: Yes. To Selena Gomez.

  • Her overall score: 4.6
  • Quote: "Because I like grapefruit, the bitterness of the tequila is appealing."
  • Recommend? And to what celebrity?: Yes, to Amy Pohler in "Parks and Recreation"

  • His overall score: 3.2
  • Quote: "It reminds me of Hawaii... or a shark attack."
  • Recommend? And to what celbrity? Yes, to Jack Johnson.

  • His overall score: 3.7
  • Quote: "This drink makes me want to go swimming."
  • Recommend? And to what celebrity? "Yes, to Deb Messing."

  • My overall score: 4.8
  • Quote: "Did I mention I LOVE tequila? This drink was fun and totally drinkable."
  • Recommend? And to which celebrity? "Yes, to Taylor Swift wanting to party."

Well there you have it! I hope you guys want to make this drink too. I personally thought it was awesome.

Enjoy!

Sincerely,
Kylee

Thirsty Thursday!-Week 4-The Hollywood

It's Thirsty Thursday again! I love this day of the week. It's Thursday for you guys, but it is actually Thirsty Thursday on Wednesday at my house. The drink is the "Hollywood". Sounds fancy huh? Here's the ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz of vodka
  • 1 oz of raspberry liquor (Sidebar: I used raspberry schnapps type liquor. The lady at the store said to buy Chambord, but we don't necessarily have that money at the moment, so I went cheap)
  • 2.5-3 oz of pineapple juice (Sidebar2: The recipes online will tell you to just add a dash of pineapple juice, but in my mind; that's a shot not a drink. So I added more. Do it to your preference.)
I rate the drinks on a scale of 1-5.
1= terrible
2= bad
3= okay
4= good
5= awesome

We judge them on five categories: appearance, overall taste, consistency, amount of alcohol, and frequency (meaning would you buy a second round at a bar).

Meet your judges:

  • This is my best friend!
  • She loved this drink.
  • Her rating: 4.2
  • Recommend? "Yes, to someone that wants a free fruity alcoholic drink."
  • Quote: "Yum... I love pineapple.

  • My hubby!
  • This drink was not for him.
  • His rating: 3.2
  • Recommend? "Yes, to mothers."
  • Quote: "It's got too much alcohol for something so fruity."

  • First off, don't judge how I look. We just got back from the gym and my hair be lookin' all sorts o'crazy! And that's my funny face, not my normal one... I think.
  • I thought this drink was "MEH..."
  • My Rating: 3.7
  • Recommend? "I really don't think I would on this one."
  • Quote: "I thought it was okay. I didn't really enjoy it all that much. So... Meh... I guess I didn't like it."

I hope you all are like Ashley, and like this drink. Just because it wasn't for me, doesn't make it a bad drink. I don't really have that great of taste when it comes to mixed drinks. Give me cowboy koolaid anyday! ;-)

Sincerely,
Kylee

Thirsty Thursday!-Week 3- Blue Hawaiian

---- Blue Hawaiian ----

Blue Hawaiian
Online Recipe:
  • 1 oz. light rum
  • 1 oz. blue curacao
  • 2 oz. Pineapple Juice
  • 1 oz. cream of coconut
What I put in mine:
  • 1 oz. coconut rum
  • 1 oz. blue curacao
  • 2 oz. pineapple juice
  • Just a dash of cream of coconut
Ingredients (including brands):
Dole pineapple/orange/banana juice
Blue Curacao
Cruzan Rum
Coco Real Cream of Coconut
Captain Morgan Coconut Rum

I put a new ranking system in place to better judge these drinks.  I hope this system helps you determine if you want to try it or not. We also have 3 additional judges, they call themselves THE MEN.
1= Terrible
2= Bad
3= Okay
4= Good
5= Great!

There are 5 judging categories:
1) Appearance:  How does the drink look? Does it look appetizing? Just by looking at it, would you order it at a bar?

2) Taste: How well do the flavors blend? Is your first reaction "yum"? Does it taste good?

3) Consistency: Is there anything that doesn't sit right with your mind while drinking? Is there anything funky about the consistency?

4) Amount of Alcohol: Does it need more/less? Is there an appropriate amount of alcohol?

5) Frequency: Would you drink more than one in one sitting?

And finally I asked myself and "THE MEN" if they would recommend the drink.

Meet the judges and their scores:

Jacob: He's my wonderful husband. :)
His overall score: 4.2
Quote: "It needs more alcohol."
Recommend?: Yes, to a woman.

Ben: He's our great friend. Smart man, that one. ;)
His overall score: 4
Quote: "It's fruity."
Recommend?: No

Josh: My brother-in-law
His overall score: 4.2
Quote: "Tastes like Cabo."
Recommend?: Yes, to a woman or a man on vacation.

My overall score: 4.4
Quote: "I would recommend this to someone that doesn't drink often. It's fruity and you can barely taste the alcohol."
Recommend?: Yes

I hope you enjoy!

Sincerely,
Kylee

Thirsty Thursday- Week 2- Lynchberg Lemonade

Lynchberg Lemonade

  • 1 Part Jack Daniels
  • 2 part Lemonade

I completely realize there are a million and a half ways to make this drink. I chose to make it the easiest way possible. That's for 2 reasons: I'm lazy and I always get stuck acting as bartender, so the easier the better!

My review: THIS DRINK IS AWESOME! It's a hard lemonade, so therefore, it reminds me of a grandmother's poker match.  This is an awesome summer drink. It's 104 degrees here, so anything to help cool us off is welcome. It's probably my new favorite summer drink.

Enjoy!

Sincerely,
Kylee

Welcome!

Welcome, my friend!

This blog is about my daily lessons with a little fun thrown in. I consider myself to be an odd person, so beware.

I'm new to the blogging world, so any tips you have to offer, I'm listening.

I'm really excited to introduce what I will be doing this Thursday. It's called "Thirsty Thursdays", I'm going to be making drinks I've never tried before and letting you know what they taste like. IT'S GOING TO BE SO MUCH FUN.

I'm considering a few ideas for the blog, but Thirsty Thursdays are the one part of this blog that I'm so excited about.

I should tell you about myself, but I'm not going to.

Sincerely,
Kylee
